City Of Glass

The invitation came from Iris.

Delilah hadn’t seen her in three years — not since that summer they’d both lived in Florence, when the nights were too hot and the wine too cheap and neither of them ever talked about the way they looked at each other.

But now Iris was back — hosting a quiet rooftop dinner, just six guests, just close friends. Delilah and Theo decided to go. For old times’ sake.

The penthouse was all glass and shadows. Candles everywhere. Jazz humming through the walls. Iris opened the door barefoot, with a glass of wine in her hand, and when she kissed Delilah’s cheek, her lips lingered a breath too long.

Theo noticed.

Dinner was warm and loud, full of laughter and touches on hands. By dessert, the other guests were gone — called home by early mornings or quiet exits. Iris, Delilah, and Theo remained.

Iris poured another glass. Sat closer.

“You two,” she said, tucking her hair behind her ear, “feel different together.”

Theo smiled. “In a good way?”

“In a magnetic way.”

Silence. Then Delilah leaned in — slowly, heart racing — and kissed Iris. Just once. Just enough to change the air.

Iris looked at Theo. “Is this alright?”

He stepped forward. “It’s more than alright.”

The bedroom was dim, all glass walls and city lights outside. They didn’t undress each other quickly. It was slow — careful. Theo kissed Iris’s shoulder while Delilah slid her hands beneath her silk blouse. Iris gasped softly as both their mouths found her skin.

Theo lay back while the two women tangled beside him, Delilah kissing her way down Iris’s stomach, Iris tugging her lip between her teeth as she moaned. He watched — transfixed, reverent — until Iris reached for him, guiding him into the moment, not just the room.

They moved like they’d done this before, even if they hadn’t. Each touch asked. Each sound answered.

Iris came with both their names whispered into the dark.

After, they lay tangled in each other’s limbs, the city glittering around them like a secret kept just between three.

Delilah kissed Theo’s chest. “I didn’t know I needed that.”

Theo smiled. “You looked like you always had.”

And Iris whispered, “You were always meant to be found like this.”
