It Was Always Her

Jade had known them since the beginning.

She was at the engagement party, the wedding, the dinner table countless nights. She loved them both, in different ways — always had. But it had never crossed a line.

Until tonight.

They were spending a weekend at a cabin — the three of them, like always. Firewood, red wine, nowhere to be. Sophie had fallen asleep with her head in Matt’s lap, her hand tangled with Jade’s.

And when she stirred, hours later, it was dark, and quiet, and something in the air had shifted.

Sophie looked at Jade. “You’re still awake?”

Jade nodded. “Couldn’t sleep.”

Matt’s hand was still in her hair. Jade’s thumb brushed over Sophie’s knuckles, slow. Familiar. Different.

Sophie sat up. “Can I ask you something?”

Jade met her eyes. “Anything.”

“Have you ever… thought about what it would be like? With us?”

Matt was very still.

Jade didn’t lie. “Yes.”

No one spoke for a long moment.

Then Sophie reached for her.

The kiss was soft. Careful. Years of friendship folded into it, but underneath — something else. When Matt leaned in too, kissing the space just below Jade’s ear, her breath caught in her throat.

They moved together like it was instinct.

Matt sat back as Sophie straddled Jade’s lap, their mouths finding rhythm, their hands learning new places. Matt touched them both — reverent, patient. He didn’t lead, just followed. Every kiss, every gasp, every shift of breath.

Jade moaned softly as Sophie slipped her hand between her legs, her head falling back into Matt’s chest. It was overwhelming. Not just pleasure — the intimacy, the knowing.

She came like she’d never been touched that way. Because this was different. This was them.

They didn’t say anything after. Just curled into each other, skin warm, the firelight flickering low.

Jade whispered into Sophie’s hair, “What happens now?”

Sophie smiled against her neck. “Now? You sleep between us.”
